I'm Malcolm Nesset. I like things happening. An idea turning into a project. A training session that asks something of me. Music that makes standing still impossible. People with energy and ambitions of their own. There is a lot I want to do, and I want the capacity to take part in it.
Here, I'll write about how I try to make that whole life work. What I'm building, what I prioritise and what I learn along the way. You'll get to follow the work as it happens, with the questions and decisions that come with it.
Bringing the body along
Training, recovery, sauna and cold plunges are part of what I want to explore and share. I'm curious about the starting point I've been given and how much I can make of it. There will be plenty of room for that curiosity here.
I want to show what I do, what I measure and how it feels. Those are different things. A number can be interesting without explaining the whole story, and a good experience can be valuable even when I don't know exactly what produced it.
For me, capacity also includes everything that happens outside the gym. I want energy for the work, for people and for an evening that unexpectedly gets better than planned. My body comes along for the whole ride.
Giving ideas a life
Live Longer, Ameo and MaidMe belong in this world because I work on them. Here, I want to share the decisions behind those projects: the problem I'm trying to solve, where my time goes and why I choose one direction over another.
An update can be small and still worth sharing. Something that finally becomes clear. A question that changes the plan. A decision that helps something move forward. I want to show enough of the work for you to understand the thinking and take something into your own projects.
A new idea makes it easy to feel energised. I'm interested in what it takes to keep that idea alive through the ordinary days of doing the work.
Making room to live
I don't drink alcohol, and I still want to go out. Dance, meet people and have fun. That is an important part of my story and of what I want to write about.
I want to explore what freedom means in practice. What does a good evening look like? How do I want to spend a weekend? Which habits make it easier to live the way I actually want to? Those questions leave room for both seriousness and humour.
My ambitions include enjoying life. I want that to come through, including when I write about discipline, focus and getting things done. The people and experiences give much of the work its direction.
Attention has a cost
I've already built an endless scroll. That sentence probably tells you something about my curiosity. I wanted to explore a format that keeps giving you a reason to continue.
The same interest sits behind the questions I want to ask about focus and momentum. What deserves my attention? What do I keep allowing to interrupt me? And how do I make room to finish something?
So every story here should give you something back for the time you spend on it. An experience, an idea or a question you take with you.
This is the beginning
Statistically Inconvenient will hold this combination: the body, building companies, freedom and attention. Some stories will be personal. Others will look closely at a project or a decision. In time, they'll become videos too.
You can follow along in Norwegian or English. I'm starting with writing and building from there.
There is a lot I want to do. Now I'm going to bring the work together, put it into words and share more of the journey. Welcome in.
